  • What is the difference between Attar (Ittar) and classic perfume?

The main differences between attar and classic perfume lie in their ingredients, preparation methods, and presentation. Here's a breakdown of their key distinctions:

    1. Ingredients:

       - Attar: Attars are natural, concentrated oils made from flowers, herbs, spices, fruits, and other botanical ingredients. They are often created using traditional methods that preserve the essence of the raw materials, such as distillation or enfleurage. No synthetic chemicals are used in attars, making them 100% natural.

       - Classic Perfume: Classic perfumes (also known as commercial or synthetic perfumes) contain a mix of natural ingredients (essential oils) and synthetic compounds. The synthetic elements in these perfumes help create more complex and long-lasting scents. Alcohol is a common base in many commercial perfumes.

    2. Base/Carrier:

       - Attar: The base of an attar is typically a natural oil, such as sandalwood, jojoba, or coconut oil. This makes the scent feel rich, smooth, and less volatile.

       - Classic Perfume: The base of a classic perfume is usually alcohol, which helps disperse the fragrance when sprayed. The alcohol evaporates quickly, allowing the scent to spread.

    3. Scent Intensity and Longevity:

       - Attar: Attars tend to have a more intense and longer-lasting scent because they are oil-based and do not evaporate as quickly as alcohol-based perfumes. The scent can last for several hours to a full day, depending on the composition.

       - Classic Perfume: Classic perfumes generally last for a shorter period (usually 4-6 hours) due to the alcohol content. However, some high-quality perfumes may last longer.

    4. Application:

       - Attar: Attars are applied directly to the skin, often using a roll-on or dabber, as they do not come in spray bottles. They are typically worn in small amounts due to their concentration.

       - Classic Perfume: Classic perfumes are most often sprayed onto the skin, clothes, or hair. They come in spray bottles, making them easier to apply.

    5. Scent Profile:

       - Attar: Attars tend to have a more earthy, natural, and rich fragrance profile. The scent is often deep and multi-layered, reflecting the organic nature of the ingredients used.

       - Classic Perfume: Classic perfumes can have a wide variety of scents, ranging from floral, citrus, woody, oriental, etc., and often feature more complex notes. The inclusion of synthetic ingredients allows for a broader range of olfactory compositions, from fresh and light to strong and spicy.

    6. Cultural Origin and Tradition:

       - Attar: Attars have their roots in the Middle East, India, and South Asia. They are often associated with traditional and cultural practices, such as religious ceremonies, weddings, and royal use. The production of attar has been an ancient art passed down through generations.

       - Classic Perfume: Classic perfumes have their origins in Europe, particularly France, which is known for being the epicenter of perfume-making. Modern perfumery has evolved with technological advances, blending tradition with synthetic innovations.

    7. Price:

       - Attar: High-quality attars can sometimes be quite expensive due to the labor-intensive, natural process of extraction. However, because they last longer, you might need to apply them less often.

       - Classic Perfume: While there are expensive classic perfumes, mass-produced commercial perfumes can often be more affordable than attars, especially when synthetic materials are used.

    8. Health and Sensitivity:

       - Attar: Because attars are natural and do not contain alcohol or synthetic additives, they may be a better option for people with sensitive skin or allergies.

       - Classic Perfume: Some individuals may have sensitivities to the synthetic chemicals or alcohol present in classic perfumes.

In conclusion, Attars are natural, concentrated oils with rich, earthy scents, while classic perfumes use a blend of natural and synthetic materials, often with an alcohol base, offering a broader range of complex fragrances. The choice between them depends on personal preference for natural vs. synthetic ingredients, scent longevity, and cultural factors.

  • What is concentrated Attar?

Concentrated attar refers to a highly concentrated form of traditional attar perfume, where the fragrance is extracted from natural botanicals (such as flowers, herbs, spices, and woods) and mixed with a carrier oil, usually without the addition of alcohol. The term "concentrated" emphasizes that these attars contain a higher ratio of fragrance to carrier oil, making them extremely potent and long-lasting.

The usual concentration rates are upto:

    -After Shave: 1-3%

    - Cologne: 2-4%

    - Eau de toilette: 5-15%

    - Eau de parfum: 15-20%

    - Parfum: 20-30

    - Attar: 100%

  • What is the effect of Attar?

The effects of attar are multifaceted, offering benefits that range from emotional and mental well-being to physical and sensory pleasures. The use of attars can enhance mood, promote relaxation, reduce stress, and even improve skin health. Since attars are made from pure, natural ingredients, their effects tend to be more holistic, gentle, and lasting. Whether used for spiritual purposes, personal well-being, or aesthetic enjoyment, attars provide a powerful, natural way to influence one's body, mind, and environment.

  • Can I use perfume oil for Yoga or Meditation?

Absolutely, Our authentic Indian perfumes are designed to use for Yoga, Meditation, Spirituality as it has been used from the ancient time.

  • Can I use Attar for Religious Purpose?

Yes, Ofcourse. As there is no alcohol mixed in Attar you can use without any hesitation.

  • Why do we find cheaper attars?

    - The vast majority of the products proposed today under the name of Attar contain synthetic perfumes and solvents resulting from petrochemistry (di-octyl phthalate, liquid paraffin ...). These components are inexpensive compared to natural extracts, moreover, the manufacture is simplified and faster.

    - The aromatic qualities and the properties of these imitations are however not comparable to the authentic Attars: the fragrances are not so deep and rich in nuances, the virtues of the plants are absent or little present. Moreover, the synthetic components used can be toxic (various substances used in perfumery are recognized as carcinogenic and neurotoxic).

    - The particular development of the authentic Attars is also very different from the natural perfumes that can be found in the trade, and whose manufacture consists in adding a few drops of essential oils or perfume extract to a base of alcohol, vegetable oil or wax.

  • Where is the best place to store your perfume?

The best place to store your perfume is in a cool, dry, and dark place. Here are the key points to consider:

    1. Avoid Heat: Keep perfume away from direct sunlight and heat sources, as high temperatures can break down the fragrance and alter its composition.

    2. Cool Temperature: Store perfume in a cool area, ideally between 15°C to 20°C (59°F to 68°F), as extreme heat or cold can affect its longevity and scent.

    3. Darkness: Light can degrade the essential oils in perfumes, causing them to lose their scent over time. Keep your perfume in a dark cabinet or drawer to preserve its fragrance.

    4. Stable Environment: Avoid places with fluctuating temperatures (e.g., bathrooms or near windows) as this can cause the perfume to degrade more quickly.

  • Can I use attar for children?

Yes. You can use our Indian attar on children skin or on their clothes as they do not contain any harmful ingredients and made from 100% natural ingredients only, for other perfumes we would suggest to do a patch test.

For any perfume we suggest that you apply a very little portion on their forearm and to see if there is any reaction. Usually any reaction happened within 10 minutes of application.
